1. Information We Collect
BatchRename does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data, file data, or usage data. None. Zero.
The app accesses files on your Mac only to perform the renaming operations you explicitly request. All processing happens locally on your device.
2. File Access
BatchRename accesses files on your Mac for the following purposes only:
- Reading file names and metadata to display in the interface and build previews
- Renaming files on disk when you click the Apply (▶) button
- Reading EXIF, ID3, video, and PDF metadata when the Metadata Tags feature is used
- Computing file hashes (MD5/SHA) when the Encode & Encrypt feature is used
Your files are never uploaded, synced to a cloud service, or transmitted anywhere.
3. Network Access
BatchRename does not require or use any network connection for its core functionality. The app communicates over the internet only for:
- Apple's StoreKit framework to process in-app purchases (governed by Apple's Privacy Policy)
- No other network activity occurs
4. In-App Purchases
BatchRename offers optional in-app purchases through Apple's App Store. All purchase processing is handled entirely by Apple. WilliamSoftware does not receive or store any payment information. Apple's privacy policy applies to purchase transactions: apple.com/legal/privacy.
5. Analytics & Tracking
BatchRename does not include any analytics SDK, tracking library, advertising framework, or third-party data collection. We do not track how you use the app, what files you rename, how often you use the app, or any behavioral data.
6. Data Storage
BatchRename stores the following data locally on your Mac only, using macOS standard preferences
(UserDefaults):
- Your app settings (e.g., whether to show hidden files, confirm before renaming)
- Your saved favorite rule templates
- IAP license tokens (transaction IDs) to verify purchased add-ons locally
- Whether you have seen the tutorial (to avoid showing it repeatedly)
This data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted.
7. Children's Privacy
BatchRename is rated 4+ on the App Store and does not target children. No personal information is collected from any user regardless of age.
8. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date above and post the revised policy at this URL. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
